- 4 cups stale bread, cubed
- 2 cups milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Place bread cubes in the dish.
- In a bowl, whisk milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Pour mixture over bread. Add raisins if using.
- Let sit for 10 minutes so bread absorbs liquid.
- Drizzle melted butter on top.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and set.
- Cool slightly before serving.
