Description

Beef Giouvetsi is a traditional Greek dish made with tender beef, orzo pasta, and a rich tomato sauce, slow-cooked to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 500g beef, cubed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 400g canned tomatoes
  • 200g orzo pasta
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 500ml beef stock
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pot and brown the beef cubes.
  2. Add onion and garlic, cook until soft.
  3. Stir in tomatoes, oregano, bay leaf, and beef stock. Simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Add orzo pasta and cook for another 15 minutes until pasta is tender.
  5. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Use a heavy pot for even cooking.
  • Adjust beef stock if the sauce thickens too much.
  • Garnish with grated cheese if desired.
